Jen Reich
Hello!
I’m Jen Reich and I am a nurse, poet, and storyteller.
Currently, I study the role of story in healing and health promotion and I am so grateful to be able to do this work! This Site is in the beginning stages…a work in progress towards using poetry as one small step towards healing the numerous challenges faced in our healthcare systems.....Over time, there will be ways for you to donate to a wonderful nursing initiative supporting global health and co-participate in the creative process. For now, please enjoy my poem of the day and feel free to share ideas for this vision!

Perhaps the sea lion was there to remind them that like the ebb and flow of the tide, suffering too will come and go. But no matter what the situation, when we open our hearts to another, we begin to heal the collective suffering of all. And with that thought, a lightness came over her and she ran back up the beach, allowing herself to feel the ocean as if it were her very first time.... This book is a selection of poems and short stories compiled from my poem of the day and daily blog; You are invited to choose where to begin reading this book. It might be reading straight through, picking an element that resonates with you, or opening to a random page. However you decide to approach the flow, I wish you much joy on the journey.

Ten percent of the proceeds from this book will go to the Watson Caring Science Institute in gratitude for their wonderful work in transforming our healthcare systems.  You can read more about this awesome organization a

The poems in this book are selections from "poems of the day," that I sent out to my email list between 2008-2011. During these years, I lived in Tucson, AZ, Monterey Bay area of California, and Chicago, Illinois. I also spent time with family in my hometown of Warren, Ohio. I have divided my book into the "States" from where each email was sent. Usually in these emails I wrote a little story about my experience along with each poem. I often received responses about the meaningfulness of these stories, and so I included the original emails next to each poem.
All proceeds from this book will be donated to local organizations (one from each community in the book) with the remainder to a global organization (Nightingale Initiative For Global Health), in the spirit of what I took away from this workshop.
Many blessings to all of us on our journeys of healing.
